TIA 523962.31 – Front-Wheel Drive Axle Speed Sensor, Signal Does Not Match Transmission Output Speed

TIA 523962.31 (TIA )

Code: 523962.31

Shortcode:

Description:

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated under the following circumstances when the transmission oil temperature is above 10°C (50°F) and front-wheel drive is engaged:

  • The difference between front-wheel drive axle speed and transmission output speed is above 4% for more than 3 seconds.
  • The front-wheel drive axle speed is below or at 200 rpm at a ground speed of more than 0.7 km/h (0.4 mph).

Reaction:

Limited or no function of the transmission.

Recommendations:

Inspect Front-Wheel Drive Axle Speed Sensor:

  • Verify the physical condition and operation of the front-wheel drive axle speed sensor.
  • Replace the sensor if it is faulty or damaged.

Check Transmission Output Speed Sensor:

  • Inspect the transmission output speed sensor for proper operation.
  • Replace the sensor if it is providing incorrect readings.

Measure and Compare Speeds:

  • Use diagnostic tools to measure and compare the front-wheel drive axle speed and transmission output speed.
  • Ensure that the readings are within the acceptable range and do not deviate by more than 4%.

Check for Mechanical Issues:

  • Ensure that there are no mechanical issues such as differential slip or wheel slip that could cause discrepancies in speed readings.

Inspect Wiring and Connections:

  • Check the wiring and connectors associated with the speed sensors for damage or disconnections.
  • Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors.

Update Control Software:

  • Ensure that the control software is up-to-date with the latest version from the manufacturer.

Consult Technical Support:

  • If the issue persists, consult technical support for further diagnostic procedures or potential hardware issues.

Note:

Regular inspection and maintenance of the speed sensors and associated wiring can prevent issues related to speed discrepancies. Ensuring all components are functioning correctly and are properly calibrated is crucial for reliable transmission operation.
