This diagnostic trouble code, AIC 521132.31, occurs when the CommandQuad™ transmission system detects a fault with range switch C, causing it and potentially other switches to be read as simultaneously pressed. This issue may be due to a mechanical defect causing the switch to stick, or an electrical problem such as a short circuit that falsely signals multiple switch activations.


In response to this faulty condition, which could lead to unsafe transmission behaviors or incorrect gear engagement, the control unit has automatically shifted the vehicle into a recoverable PARK position.


  • Inspect range switch C and any adjacent range switches for mechanical issues that might cause them to stick in the pressed position. Check for obstructions, dirt buildup, or wear that could impede normal switch operation.
  • Test the switches individually using diagnostic equipment to confirm their independent functionality and to ensure that pressing one does not inadvertently activate others.
