Error code CAB 524169.04 occurs when the CAB control unit detects a lower than expected voltage from the left brake pedal sensor. Low sensor voltage might indicate a power supply issue, a failing sensor, or poor electrical connections within the circuit. This fault is specific to vehicles equipped with the AutoPowr™ / IVT™ transmission system, which incorporates both a sensor and a switch to monitor the brake pedal’s status.


In response to the low voltage reading, the control unit initiates a ‘PARK’ position command to ensure safety by preventing unintended vehicle movements. This condition is recoverable after the fault is corrected.


  • Inspect the Brake Pedal Sensor: Check the left brake pedal sensor for any signs of physical damage or wear that could impact its performance. Ensure that the sensor is correctly installed and secured.
  • Test Sensor Voltage Output: Use a multimeter to measure the voltage output from the sensor while the brake pedal is pressed and released. Verify that these readings align with the specifications provided in the vehicle’s service manual.
  • Examine Wiring and Electrical Connections: Inspect all wiring and connectors related to the brake pedal sensor for signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Ensure that all electrical connections are secure and free from corrosion.
