John Deere E380LC Excavator of the Year

John Deere E380LC Excavator of the Year at the Construction Equipment Innovation Awards

This is the heaviest excavator in the John Deere product line: its weight is 40,400 kg and power is 232 kW. The machine has a reinforced frame and working equipment. The intelligent hydraulic system ensures optimal synchronization of pumps and engine, thus avoiding fuel overspending.

The John Deere E380LC’s innovativeness is all about increasing machine efficiency while optimizing operating costs and maximizing utilization, ultimately increasing the excavator’s efficiency.

The John Deere IHC hydraulic system saves fuel by synchronizing with the engine. Operator actions are sensed by sensors and sent to an electronic control unit which controls the pump.

John Deere IHC has four hydraulic power modes:

  • for precision work
  • bulk materials
  • standard mode
  • high-power mode for the toughest jobs.

This gives the operator the ability to optimize machine settings for the job at hand.

Optimized fuel consumption is also achieved through

  • Auto-changeover to idle speed when the operator is not working on the machine;
  • Automatic engine shutdown after a set period of time.

All functions are controlled by SSM button panel and touch screen monitor. Fuel consumption and engine load level can be monitored through the JDLink remote monitoring unit. A single diagnostic system that links control units together constantly monitors the operation of all systems.

On John Deere E380LC excavators, most service points are located at ground level accessibility. This means less time spent on operations, fewer routine inspections, longer machine uptime, and improved worker safety.

About the Construction Equipment Innovation Contest:

The competition takes place in Russia. The purpose of the competition is to identify innovative solutions in construction equipment presented in Russia, based on the opinion of an independent jury consisting of respected experts and journalists of specialized Russian publications covering construction and road construction topics. Jury members identified real leaders in innovation and advanced technologies in key product groups of the industry.

“At the same time, by innovation we mean not only breakthrough developments, which do not happen that often, but also interesting “findings” and evolutionary transformations, because sometimes it is much more difficult to convey their usefulness and effectiveness to the end user.”

say the organizers of the competition.
